About VALANCHERY.

Valanchery is a village located in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. Valanchery
is one of the most important business centre of Malappuram district.
It is situated 63 km
south of Kozhikode or Calicut and 62 km north
to Thrissur, on the National Highway 17.
Over 90% of the population are literate and
25% have higher education. 20% of men from
Valanchery are now working overseas mostly
in the Persian Gulf countries.

Valanchery is also famous for the harmony
among different religions.
Its secular nature has attracted immigration from various areas in
the south of India
Calicut International Airport and Cochin
International Airport are the nearest airports.

The nearest railway station is at Kuttippuram, 8
km away.

Demographics As of 2001 India census [1], Valanchery/
Kattipparuthi had a population of 35,795.
Out
of this males constitute 48.86% (17,490) of the
population and females 51.13% (18,305).

Total number of house holds in Valanchery is
listed as 5,926. History Many years back (1150 AD), today's
Valanchery was belongs to the Valluvanad
Rajavamsam and it is considered as very
ancient family of kings.
The hierarchy of this
Rajavamsam was known as Arangot
Swaroopam.
This Rajavamsam has mentioned in Unnuneeli Sandesam and Unni yadi
Charitham.

The boundary of this Rajavamsam was from
Bharathapuzha in the south to Panthalur mala
in the north and Attapadi Mala (Silent Valley) in
the East to the sea coast in Ponnani in the west.
The eldest member of the family is called by the
title "Sree Vallabhan." Among the male
members, the eldest is called "Valluva
Konathiri." Another sthani has nominated by
Valluvakonathiri is named "Patinjarakara
Thampuran" and he has some rights and privileges over the landed property.
The eldest
female families known as "Kulathur
Thampuratty" and "Kadannamootha
Thampuratty".

Later this place came under kingdom of
Samoothiri (Zamorin) of kozhikode.

near this village are the
Kadampuzha Temple,

Moonnakkal Mosque,
Rayiranellur Mala (the hill
of Naranath)
and Sree Durga Temple.

Also an amusement park named Flora Fantasia.
